The Indian government has granted Indian citizenship to Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, the actor announced on his social media accounts. He wished everyone a happy Independence Day and said in the caption, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Fourth of July.

Being a citizen of Canada has always drawn criticism for Akshay Kumar. The actor stated earlier this year that he has already registered for a change of passport and that India means the world to him.

He experienced a dry spell in his career in the 1990s, delivering more than 15 straight duds, which encouraged him to apply for Canadian citizenship. After he chose not to cast a ballot in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, his citizenship status came under intensive examination.

After he performed a “non-political” interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi prior to the elections, the subject also generated discussion.

After a string of failures, the actor has now seen a hit movie at the box office. OMG 2, his most recent film, is doing well at the box office. In India, the movie has made a total of 55.17 crore. The Monday collections were $12.06 crore, above the release date’s total of $10.26 crore.

According to reports, the movie’s fifth day in India is expected to bring in a net income of $20,000,000,000.

In the film, Akshay Kumar portrays Bholenath’s messenger and is depicted standing with dreadlocks. Pankaj Tripathi plays the part of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devotee of Lord Shiva, and Yami Gautam also has a significant part to play.

Produced by Cape of Good Films and Wakaoo, “OMG 2” is directed by Amit Rai and presented by Viacom18 Studios. It talks about a variety of issues that teenagers face as well as the importance of sex education. The movie was previously unnoticed ever since its creators presented the movie’s posters and teaser.

The censor board reportedly stopped the film because they wanted to be extra cautious considering the religious content of the film. However, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) later approved the movie and awarded it an “A” (Adults Only) certificate.

Recently, Akshay Kumar had given up his Canadian citizenship. He claimed that he has already registered for a new passport and that India is his entire world. In the first episode of the new season of “Seedhi Baat” on Aajtak, Akshay Kumar remarked in an interview that he dislikes it when people make assumptions about why he became a citizen of Canada.

“To me, India is everything… Everything I have acquired and gained comes from this place. And I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to return the favour.

Following an interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April 2019, shortly before the Lok Sabha elections, Akshay kumar citizenship became a contentious issue.

Later, he responded directly to the criticism. “I have finally submitted my passport application. It sucks that I constantly have to provide proof that I am an Indian. My children and wife are also Indian. I live here, I pay my taxes here,” he declared.

Akshay Kumar also clarified his initial motivation for obtaining a Canadian passport. He admitted that at one point in his career, after 14 consecutive failures, he was at a loss for what to do. At that point, Kumar’s friend advised him to travel to Canada and carry out a task there, for which he applied for a passport. The actor, however, chose to remain in his current position after the success of his 15th movie and refused to look back.
